Funding Education for Refugees Worldwide

Our Mission

READ is on a mission to eliminate the cost-barrier to education for refugees and displaced persons around the world.

About Us

What READ does

What we do

The Refugee Education and Development Project (READ) is a non-profit organization that supports and funds quality education for refugees and displaced persons seeking vocational training, developmental education, or other support in educational endeavors.

Why READ provides education funding

Why we do it

READ believes that education is a human right. We seek to develop and empower the next generation of leaders in the world’s most persecuted communities and to raise awareness surrounding the education crisis for people whose lives have been uprooted due to wars, conflicts, natural disasters, or other unforeseen circumstances.

The Problem

Refugees have limited access to education

Limited access to education

Out of the 26 million individuals identified as refugees worldwide, only 3 percent have access to higher education.

Refugees get minimal governmental support

Minimal governmental support

The US government only pays refugees up to 3 months of support, plus welfare, to set up their new life. Once this support ends, many find themselves struggling to start a new life.

Refugees have stresses from daily expenses

Education often takes the back burner

Needing to pay for food and shelter makes educational costs take the back burner. Yet, refugees are actively seeking opportunities for re-training and education to rebuild a life similar to the one they once had.

READ hopes for a better future for refugees

But there is still hope

The READ project aims to solve this problem. We were founded to ensure that those who actively seek to obtain a quality education can rely on us to help facilitate it.
